Edmonton police are investigating a two-vehicle collision that resulted in the death of a 24-year-old pedestrian near downtown Wednesday morning.

EDMONTON (CityNews) – Edmonton Police Services are investigating a two-vehicle collision that killed a pedestrian Wednesday morning.

Downtown Division patrol officers responded to a call of a collision at the intersection of 95 Street and 103A Avenue at approximately 10:40 a.m.

Upon arrival, members found a 24-year-old deceased male lying near the sidewalk on the northwest corner.

Police said they received reports that a Ford Explorer travelling westbound on 103A Avenue drove through a red light before colliding with an ETS DATS bus that was northbound on 95 Street.

The Explorer subsequently travelled onto the northwest sidewalk and collided with an electrical box before striking and killing a pedestrian.

The 48-year-old male DATS bus driver was taken to hospital with serious, non-life-threatening injuries. There were no passengers on the bus at the time of the collision.

The 30-year-old female driver of the Ford Explorer was also taken to hospital with serious, non-life-threatening injuries.

Police continue to search for the male passenger of the Ford Explorer. They believe he is in his 30s. The passenger fled the collision scene on foot and was last seen running near 97 Street and 106A Avenue.

EPS say charges are pending against the driver of the Ford Explorer, but not the passenger.

Edmonton police are asking anyone who may have witnessed this collision to contact their complaint line at 780-423-4567 or #377, or by calling Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or by
