Man critically injured in apparent shooting in SW Edmonton

EDMONTON – A man has suffered critical injuries in an incident that has created a heavy police presence on Saddleback Road.

Details surrounding the situation weren’t immediately clear Monday afternoon, but police say the victim was found with a gunshot wound outside an apartment building on Saddleback Road east of 18 Avenue shortly after 3 p.m.

The 20-year-old man was rushed to hospital where he remains.

Police are still on scene at Heather Ridge Estates and say people who live there might not be able to get into their suites until police can ensure the safety of the area.

Investigators don’t have a description of a suspect or a suspect car thus far.
