Alberta family featured in season 2 of Real Farm Lives

ACME — Consumers can now journey in behind the scenes of a family-run farm northeast of Calgary.

The everyday routines of the Sawyer family as they produce food for the world is front and centre in season two of the web-series Real Farm Lives.

Matt Sawyer and his family had a camera crew follow them around as they carried out their regular routines on their farm near Acme, about 100 kilometres north-east of Calgary.

Sawyer says it was a lot of fun and hopes it helps tell consumers about how much farmers love producing good quality food.

“Highlighting to our consumers, our urban neighbours, of how their food is produced and why we use some of the crop protection tools we do use,” Sawyer said.

He adds they want to show off their sustainable practices.

“We want to showcase the good that we’re doing with the environment and the food we are producing.”

The Sawyers, who grow canola, wheat, and malt barley on 4,200 acres of land, are more than happy to show off what happens on a grain operation to their customers.

Sawyer says while being in front of the camera is not new to them with all of the advocacy work they do, filming this sort of feature was.

“It was two very long days of having these cameras follow us around, and it was exciting, but it was also a lot of hard work.”

The show is produced by CropLife Canada.
