EDMONTON – Charges have been laid in a months-old crash that killed a young man.
Around 2:30 a.m. on April 14, two cars collided in the intersection of a Highway 2 offramp and 41 Avenue. Investigators say the Jeep driving on the offramp blew through a red light, hitting a Kia driving down 41 Ave.
Three people in the Kia were rushed to hospital where a 24-year-old man was pronounced dead. The Kia driver, 50, and the other 24-year-old passenger, both suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
While alcohol or drugs are not considered to be factors in this crash, the driver of the Jeep, Piyush Sharma, 28, has been charged dangerous driving causing death and two counts of dangerous driving causing bodily harm.
Sharma is expected in court Wednesday, Aug. 28.
