Parachutist safe after scary skydiving incident near Vernon

VERNON, B.C. (NEWS 1130) — A parachutist is safe and back on the ground after a scary skydiving incident near Vernon Sunday morning.

The skydiver was forced to cut away his main chute and launch his auxiliary chute, according to a local skydiving company.

Okanagan Skydive says it’s an extremely rare scenario, but the experienced parachutist was calm and knew how to respond.

Posts on social media reported that crews responded to the incident, but the skydiving company says he is in good condition.
