‘Too many hot wings’; speeding teenager caught going 170 km/h

MANITOBA – (CityNews) A Manitoba teenager gave RCMP an unexpected response when pulled over for driving 70km over the speed limit.

The Camaro-driving 16-year-old, whose speed clocked in at 170 km/h, told police he had “too many hot wings and needed a bathroom.”

After a $966 speeding ticket and a $203 fine for driving without a supervisor, they may be the most expensive chicken wings he’s ever had.

And on top of the whopping $1,169 fine he’s facing, according to Manitoba RCMP’s twitter feed, MPI (Manitoba Public Insurance) could hand him 12 demerit points.

Ten for driving 50km/h over the speed limit and two for driving without a supervisor.

The teenager did manage to save himself a tow, when he was able to contact an adult to pick up the car, said the RCMP on Twitter.

There were mixed responses on Twitter to the teenager’s actions – some users were angry, while other’s found some humour in the excuse.

According to a representative from the Manitoba RCMP, the incident occurred on June 2 around 9:20 p.m. on Highway 10, just south of Minnedosa.

In response to a user’s tweet asking whether or not his license would be suspended, the Manitoba RCMP responded, “That will be up to MPI to decide, but most likely.”

The police couldn’t confirm whether the Camaro belonged to the teenager or to a parent.

Unfortunately, it looks like the 16-year-old won’t be driving the Camaro to wing night anytime soon.
