Family and friends remember MacEwan hockey player

EDMONTON (660 NEWS) – Meah and Sadee Lamothe, along with their family are remembering the “amazing person” their 23-year-old brother Nakheko was.

Meah said her brother was a fun guy, funny and charismatic. But along with that fun-loving side, there was the caring and companionate part of him that was always there for people.

She said his caring personality shone through in the work he did within their community of Calling Lake, AB.

“Whenever the community needed someone to be a leader and be there to support kids, he was that leader,” Meah said. “But for our family too, he was always there for us, he was the person that you could call no matter what.”

Meah said that if she was talking about someone that he hadn’t spoken to or seen in a while, he made sure to ask her about how they were and what was new with them.

“He truly, truly cared about so many people, he really did.”

Sadee Lamothe used the words “strong-willed and determined” to describe the person he called his role model.

Sadee said he believes that Nakheko’s determination and drive was an inspiration.

“He wanted them to know that no matter how hard it is, or how tough it gets, you can get to where you want to go,” Sadee said.

The 23-year old’s siblings both said that they are proud of the man their brother was and the lives that he touched.

“He was a part of the community, he loved everyone,” Sadee said.

“We are proud of everything that he’d done for people,” Meah said. “The impact he made on people’s lives.”
