Alberta Party calls for investigation on dismissal of legislative assistant

CALGARY (660 NEWS)- The Alberta Party is calling on the Speaker to investigate whether the dismissal of a Legislative assistant in West Yellowhead was handled properly.
Calgary MLA Karen McPherson wrote the letter after learning of the allegations being levied against NDP MLA Eric Rosendahl.
He’s accused of firing a member of his constituency staff who refused to help him with partisan political matters, in which there was a violation of the rules.

“While staff are certainly able to volunteer for parties and activities outside of office hours, their employment should be in no way, a contingent on parties and activities.”
McPherson, who was elected as an NDP, left the party over allegations she was bullied and crossed to the Alberta Party.
660 NEWS has reached out to the Provincial Government and the NDP for comment.
