Police-involved shootings rise to two after man shot dead in Edmonton
EDMONTON — Alberta’s police watchdog has been called in after another deadly shooting involving a police officer in less than a week, this time in Edmonton.
According to Edmonton police, surveillance was being conducted on a vehicle carrying a man believed to be armed and dangerous. When a traffic stop was conducted, two passengers in the vehicle exited without incident, however the man with outstanding warrants refused and remained in the vehicle.
Shots were fired when officers confronted the man, 34. The man was treated by EMS and transported to a hospital where he later died. No other people were injured.

The EPS indicated that they will not be providing further comment as the Alberta Serious Incident Response Team (ASIRT) has since taken the lead in this investigation.

Earlier this week another incident occurred involving a Calgary police officer. A car chase ended with a woman being shot and killed in the northeast end of the city.
