Motorcyclist seen going 170 km/h crashes into Bonnie Doon Leisure Centre

Charges are pending against a motorcyclist who was injured after crashing into the Bonnie Doon Leisure Centre on Wednesday morning.

Edmonton police say the man was taken to hospital for precautionary measures. No other injuries were reported.

Officers observed a motorcycle going south on Wayne Gretzky Drive at 112 Avenue around 5 a.m., travelling about 170 km/h.

Police say “a short while later,” the motorcyclist lost control and crashed into the leisure centre’s entrance.

The crash led to temporary road closures nearby.

Authorities are continuing to investigate.
