More than $1M in cash seized in Calgary drug bust

Authorities say they are still counting over $1 million in suspected drug money seized during a police operation in Calgary in late July, along with more than $1.2 million worth of illegal drugs.
In an announcement on Wednesday, ALERT said its organized crime team seized the cash and drugs on July 30 after searching a home in the Skyview neighbourhood, with help from Calgary police and the RCMP.
Investigators believe the cash haul, valued at more than $1 million, is the largest single cash seizure in ALERT’s history. The funds are still being counted and analyzed.
Police say officers found 6,881 grams of suspected MDMA, the largest quantity of any drug seized. They also found more than 3,000 grams of suspected fentanyl, more than 2,100 grams of methamphetamine, and nearly 500 grams each of cocaine and cannabis.
Two additional homes, one in Harvest Hills and one in Rocky Ridge, were searched, along with two vehicles.
Kerry Lu, 36, and Donald Ng, 51, are charged with possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking, possession of proceeds of crime, and possession of a prohibited weapon.
Investigators believe the case is connected to an ALERT Lethbridge operation in May 2026, when nearly four kilograms of cocaine were intercepted and later linked to a Calgary‑based supplier.
