Edmonton father pushing police for charges in daughter’s homicide

It’s been more than five months since Teresa Katcheech was found dead following a suspicious house fire in Edmonton’s Boyle Street neighbourhood.
Her grieving family is demanding answers from police investigating her homicide.
“Just really want her name and her spirit to rest,” said her father Wayne Katcheech. “So what I’m after now is justice.”
The body of the 39-year-old mother of three was found by firefighters who were putting out a blaze at a home near 93 Street and 105 Avenue on Feb. 9.
Police have ruled her death a homicide but are withholding how she died for “investigative reasons.”
Wayne says Edmonton police have now told the family they have a suspect. But with no face and name for the suspect, he’s concerned.
“With me and my family being in that neighbourhood, or just Edmonton in general in the inner city, we don’t know if we might even associate, not even knowing, with the person or persons that did this to Teresa,” he said Tuesday.
“I’m just full of anxiety and stress.”
CityNews asked Edmonton police for an update on the case but was pointed to a February news release as the latest public information.
Police confirmed no charges have been laid as of Monday.
Wayne Katcheech is asking any witnesses in the Boyle Street area near the home on Feb. 9 to come forward to police.
