An Edmonton man is facing numerous human trafficking and bestiality charges.
The 47-year-old is accused of trafficking at least five women in the Edmonton area, and the Alberta Law Enforcement Response Teams (ALERT) believes there could be more victims.
The man is also accused of sexually and physically abusing a dog.
In total, Jonathan Allard has been charged with 26 criminal code offences and two Animal Protection Act charges. He was arrested March 26 with help from the Edmonton Police Service.
The allegations against him have not been tested in court.
An investigation began in June 2025 when one of the alleged victims told police she was recruited via social media to move to Edmonton, where she was then forced into the sex trade.
Investigators allege the accused was involved in arranging sexual services, communicating with clients, collecting money, and controlling the victims.
“We know there are at least five other victims. We would like to speak to them and anyone else who has been exploited by Allard. These are extreme circumstances with life altering impact and trauma,” said ALERT Staff Sgt. Chris Hayes in a news release.
Allard has been charged with trafficking, forcible confinement, assault, procuring sexual services, bestiality, animal neglect and more. He remains in custody and is scheduled to appear in court April 16.
