Edmonton woman charged for allegedly stealing from grocery stores

Alberta RCMP say a 45-year-old Edmonton woman has been charged in connection to a stolen property investigation.

Mounties from Parkland say on Sept. 3, the Alberta Community Response Team reportedly found a woman that was trying to steal merchandise from a Safeway in Stony Plain.

The woman was identified by police and taken into custody.

Through an investigation, Mounties learned that the woman had allegedly stolen around $400 worth of appliances from a Wal-Mart in Edson.

Those items along with a small amount of methamphetamine were seized by police.

Additionally, police found that the woman was wanted for outstanding warrants — three for theft and one for failing to comply with a release order.

Since, 45-year-old Amanda Coldwell has been charged with possession of property obtained by a crime and theft.

Coldwell is expected to appear in court in Calgary on Sept. 23.
