Tips from the FBI and Europol have led to an Edmonton man being charged with 15 offences related to online child sexual exploitation.
Police say the 32-year-old was allegedly luring children online and sharing child sexual exploitation materials.
The U.S.’s Federal Bureau of Investigations first contacted the Alberta Law Enforcement Response Teams’ (ALERT) internet child exploitation (ICE) about a suspect sending sexually explicit photos and videos to an 11-year-old girl he met over social media. Police say that incident was first reported to Kansas City Missouri Police Department in June 2024.
A separate incident saw Europol and the United Kingdom’s eastern region special operations unit report the man sent sexually explicit photos and videos to a person he believed was a 13-year-old girl in May 2023.
ICE was notified in December 2024 and launched an investigation to identify and arrest the suspect.
Authorities believe the man was “engaging in this type of activity across various platforms since 2023.”
On July 15, Cordell Campbell was charged with child luring, making child pornography and several other offences. He is scheduled to appear in court Aug. 20.
None of the allegations have been tested in court.
