Driver arrested after chain reaction collision involving 5 vehicles on 82 Street

Edmonton police say a 28-year-old man was hospitalized after he allegedly rear-ended a vehicle on 82 Street, causing a chain reaction of three other collisions on Tuesday.

The Edmonton Police Service says that driver was arrested. He sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

Authorities say he was driving too fast, going south on 82 Street – just south of 127 Avenue – when he drove into a Dodge Ram.

Police say the Ram then struck a Mercedes, which struck a Ford Focus, which struck a Mitsubishi RVR. The drivers of those four vehicles suffered minor injuries.

The EPS major collision investigations section is investigating the collision.

The road reopened around 9:30 p.m. Tuesday.
