Delay in shipment of Moderna vaccine to Alberta: Hinshaw

CALGARY (660 NEWS) – There’s been another hold up in shipments of the Moderna vaccine for Alberta.
Chief Medical Officer of Health Dr. Deena Hinshaw tweeted Tuesday morning saying the shipments from Belgium to Canada have been delayed, meaning shots destined for the province will arrive a day or two later than originally scheduled.
While delays are disappointing, this should not impact any existing bookings. Some pharmacies have been cancelling or re-booking appointments because of last week’s delay in Moderna vaccine. But these two are unrelated. (2/3)

This follows a similar delay last week when a plane carrying the supply was grounded due to mechanical issues, forcing some pharmacies to cancel or re-book appointments.

In the tweet, Hinshaw said she knows the delays are frustrating but also unavoidable when there’s limited supply.
She added the good news is that everyone will get a vaccine soon and the province will have enough to immunize every adult by the end of June.
