1,270 new COVID-19 cases, 16 additional deaths

EDMONTON (660 NEWS) – COVID-19 cases have dipped slightly as the province reported 1,270 new cases and 16 additional deaths.
Active cases throughout the province are still above 20 thousand with 20,169 as of Wednesday afternoon.
The Edmonton zone continues to lead the province in active infections with 9,715, while the Calgary zone has 7,122.
In the last 24 hours, 17,569 tests were completed.

Sixteen more people have died as a result of COVID-19 complications, bringing the total to 760.
Hospitalizations continue to rise with another 749 people presently admitted, and 139 in the ICU.

As of Wednesday afternoon, 63,668 Albertans have recovered from the coronavirus.
