22 new COVID deaths in Alberta, deadliest day since start of pandemic

CALGARY (660 NEWS) – The province of Alberta is reporting 1,717 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the past 24 hours and a single-day high 22 fatalities.
The provincial death toll has risen to 719. The deceased ranged in age from their 40s to their 100s.
There are currently 681 people in hospital; 136 are in intensive care.
There are 20,562 active cases in Alberta while 58,818 have recovered from the virus.
This comes as the province put in place new COVID-19 restrictions on Sunday, including closing bars and restaurants to in-person dining.
Chief Medical Officer of Health Dr. Deena Hinshaw is scheduled to provide a live media update on Monday afternoon.
