EDMONTON (660 NEWS) – Premier Jason Kenney will join Dr. Deena Hinshaw Tuesday afternoon where it’s expected new COVID-19 measures will be introduced.
Minister of Jobs, Innovation and the Economy Doug Schweitzer and Health Minister Tyler Shandro will also be at the update.
Hinshaw said on Monday the restrictions currently in place are not enough to flatten the curve in the province and she recommends looking at tougher measures.
Premier Kenney has previously said the biggest mistake they made in the spring lockdown was shutting down general retail.
Premier has said a big mistake in spring was shutting down general retail, it’s expected he’ll try to avoid that today. Also, expectation is #Alberta will again shutdown dine-in services at restaurants, swapping to take-out only, as we saw in the spring. #yyc #yeg #abpoli #ableg https://t.co/kBkhC55lVM

This time around, the expectation is the government will try to avoid that but will implement similar restrictions from earlier in the year, including shutting down all dine-in services in restaurants and going to take-out only.
On Monday, the mayors of Calgary and Edmonton pressured the provincial government for more restrictions, even threatening they would do so for their cities if the province didn’t.
