Donald Trump not backing down as Joe Biden inches ahead in key states

WASHINGTON, D.C. (NEWS 1130) – Joe Biden moved ahead of Donald Trump in Pennsylvania and Georgia on Friday, but the incumbent president isn’t backing down in a race for the White House that remains too close to call.

In a statement Friday morning, Trump’s general counsel writes, “This election is not over.”

“The false projection of Joe Biden as the winner is based on results in four states that are far from final,” writes Matt Morgan. “Georgia is headed for a recount, where we are confident we will find ballots improperly harvested, and where President Trump will ultimately prevail.”

The statement goes on to claim “irregularities in Pennsylvania,” where Biden inched ahead by the slightest of margins on Friday.

Votes are still being counted in Georgia, Pennsylvania, Nevada, Wisconsin, and Michigan, though Biden has the advantage after eclipsing Trump in the latter two states.

It could take several more days for the vote count to conclude in some states, allowing a clear winner to emerge.

The Trump campaign continues to push claims of illegal activity and improperly cast votes, which have not been backed up.

On Thursday, a number of networks cut away from the president as he spoke from the White House to make unfounded accusations that the election was being stolen from him.

Americans are now entering the third full day after election day without knowing who their next president will be.

Trump’s campaign has engaged in a flurry of legal activity to try to improve the Republican president’s chances, saying it would seek a recount in Wisconsin and filing lawsuits in Pennsylvania, Michigan and Georgia.
