One new death, 243 cases of COVID-19 in Alberta

EDMONTON – Alberta has confirmed 243 new cases of COVID-19 and one death in its update on Wednesday.

There are now 2,689 active cases in Alberta, an increase of 74 from the last update.


Of those cases, 100 are in hospital and 14 are in ICU, an increase of three and two.

A total of 287 Albertans have died as a result of the virus.

The latest death was a woman in her 30s from the Edmonton area.

It was not revealed if she had a pre-existing medical condition.

The hospitalizations reached the triple digits for the first time since July.

There were 131 new cases found in the Edmonton zone, 79 in the Calgary zone, 28 in the South zone, five in the Central zone, and five in the North zone.

That makes 1,473 active cases in the Edmonton zone, 791 in the Calgary zone, 177 in the South zone, 124 in the North zone, and 108 in the Central zone.
