EDMONTON (CityNews) – The Alberta government has laid seven environmental charges against Suncor Energy Inc.
The charges come after a 2018 incident that took place at the company’s refinery in Strathcona County.
The government says one of the charges the company is facing is “releasing a substance into the environment that may cause an adverse effect and failing to report the release in a timely manner.”
All of the charges fall within the Environmental Protection and Enhancement Act.
Suncor has a scheduled court date on July 29, in Sherwood Park.
