Alberta Health officials confirm 64 new cases of coronavirus

EDMONTON (660 NEWS) – Another 64 cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed in Alberta bringing the provincial total to 754.

In Tuesday’s update, Chief Medical Officer of Health Dr. Deena Hinshaw said of the 754 cases, 77 involve health care workers.

She says the majority of the cases were returning travelers and participants of a bonspiel curling tournament and they did not get the virus from working with infected patients.

She adds as many as 75 cases are the result of community transmission.

Hinshaw says they are tracking cases at three different care facilities–Calgary’s McKenzie Towne Continuing Care home and Carewest Glenmore Park, and Edmonton’s Shepherd’s Care Kensington Village–and says they will be providing updates on confirmed cases during Wednesday’s provincial update.
