RCMP say around 10 million vehicles were stolen in 2019

EDMONTON (660 NEWS) – As Valentine’s Day arrives RCMP will be sending their love to your vehicle this year.

Throughout February, Mounties have been sharing valentines on social media with tips on how to keep your vehicle safe from thieves.

Using #VehicleValentines, RCMP are trying to get the message out about one of the most prevalent crimes in the province.

In 2019, police say almost 10 million vehicles were stolen in Alberta, many of them pickup trucks, SUVs and vans.

The good news is it was a five per cent drop from the year before, but RCMP said there is still plenty of room for improvement.

Some of the tips police are offering include using a steering wheel lock, a vehicle tracking system, locking your car and taking out all valuables.

Here are the Vehicle Valentines RCMP are sharing.
