Former Bronco Straschnitzki to answer questions from Thailand in Facebook Q&A

BANGKOK, Thailand – After undergoing spinal surgery in Thailand and making strides almost daily in his recovery, Ryan Straschnitzki will be answering questions during a Facebook live event.

The former Humboldt Broncos player flew to Thailand for the operation earlier this month, which placed an epidural stimulator implant that sends electrical currents to move his limbs.

“The stimulator will be trained to answer his brain messages and trigger the muscles and the nerves in his legs and all the way down his body,” Michelle Straschnitzki, Ryan’s mom, explained in a previous interview.

His family has posted a few videos to Twitter over the last couple of weeks, sharing the remarkable progress that Straschnitzki was making.

Straschnitzki will be sitting with staff at the Epidural Stimulation Now clinic in Bangkok answering questions about his surgery and recovery process at 7 p.m. MT Thursday.

He and his dad will be returning to Canada early next month, but Ryan hopes to get some time on the ice in his hockey sled–which made the trip with him–before he comes home.
