Driver seriously hurt after ATV slams into Red Deer RCMP vehicle

RED DEER (660 NEWS) — A man is badly hurt after his speeding ATV collided head-on with a police cruiser in Red Deer.
RCMP say it happened just after midnight on Sept. 3 when the ATV, a motorcycle and a car were reported driving erratically at high rates of speed through streets and parking lots.
Police responded but say they never pursued any of the vehicles out of concern for public safety.
The ATV rider was flown to hospital in Calgary by STARS in serious, life-threatening condition.
RCMP say the officer in the cruiser escaped with minor injuries.
