EDMONTON – Six people were arrested, and over $1 million in drugs and cash were seized following a lengthy investigation into a drug trafficking ring.

As part of Project Embrace, Alberta’s Law Enforcement Response Team (ALERT) said they seized over 8 kilograms of cocaine and meth along with $342,00 in cash.

ALERT believed that an organized crime group in Edmonton trafficked drugs from B.C. to several communities including Bonnyville, Cold Lake and Lloydminster.

After searching six homes, including four in Edmonton, six people were taken into custody and charged with conspiracy to traffic drugs.

As part of the investigation, Bonnyville RCMP arrested eight street-level dealers, each facing multiple charges of drug trafficking.
