High River RCMP searching for men impersonating police

HIGH RIVER (660 NEWS) — The High River RCMP asking for the public’s help in finding two men who were impersonating police officers on April 20. At around 5 p.m., a dark grey Ford SUV, possibly an Explorer, used lights that appeared to be police to pull over a man driving on 498 Ave. near Hwy. 2A. Two men then approached the vehicle asking for his licence and registration before telling him to leave his vehicle so they could search it.

The impersonators took money from the vehicle before driving away.

One suspect is described as a clean-cut, tall, muscular man wearing sunglasses, blue pants and a grey shirt. The other suspect is described as having a medium build, average height and was wearing an RCMP baseball cap. Both spoke with heavy accents similar to Romanian.

The public is reminded that all police officers conducting a traffic stop or arrest will have proper police identification that can be verified with a call to 911.
