Drug trafficking charges laid after employee detained at Alberta federal prison

DRUMHELLER, Alta. – Drug trafficking charges have been laid against a civilian staff member at an Alberta federal prison.
RCMP say they were called to the Drumheller Federal Institution on March 10 after an employee was detained by security for allegedly bringing drugs and other contraband into the prison.
A Drumheller woman is facing one count each of trafficking in methamphetamine and a drug concentrate called cannabis shatter.
The 40-year-old woman is also charged under the Corrections Conditional Release Act for introducing contraband to a penitentiary.
Sarah Kathleen Blanke has been released from custody.
She is scheduled to appear in court April 12.
