Alberta’s Throne Speech comes as election looms

EDMONTON – A new session of the Alberta legislature begins Monday with a speech from the throne.

Lieutenant-Governor Lois Mitchell is expected to rise in the house at about 3:00 p.m. to deliver the speech that outlines the NDP government’s priorities for the coming year.
It could be a brief sitting if Premier Rachel Notley calls a spring election soon.
By law, a provincial vote must be held by May 31.
