RCMP arrest Red Deer man following targeted abduction

RED DEER (660 NEWS) — RCMP have arrested a Red Deer man after police responded to what they call a targeted abduction.

On Thursday around 7:50 p.m. Mounties got a call from a woman located in Edmonton who was concerned one of her relatives had possibly been abducted.

Officers were led to a residence in the Highland Green neighbourhood where they intercepted a stolen vehicle and performed a high-risk take-down.

“It involved many of the Red Deer RCMP detachment units from the general duty section to the crime reduction team,” Constable Sean Morris said. “It was considered high risk, but it had a positive result.”

Both the man and the victim were unharmed.

Brian Stephens, 39, of Red Deer faces charges that include possession of stolen property over $5,000 and multiple firearm-related charges.
