Freeland top-rated Cabinet Ministers

CALGARY (660 NEWS) – It was the best of ministers, it was the worst of ministers.

Angus Reid has come out with its annual performance survey for the Liberal government’s cabinet in 2018.

According to the Executive Director of Angus Reid Shachi Kurl, it was a good year for an Alberta-born politician.

“Foreign Affairs Minister Chrystia Freeland continues to hold a positive rating and is seen to be the top performing cabinet minister.”

The report showed that 49 per cent of Canadians surveyed approves of Freeland’s performance.

“This is also a cabinet minister that has been personally attacked by somebody Canadians dislike even more than Canadian politicians. When Donald Trump attacks Freeland personally as he did during the NAFTA renegotiations, this was something that had a rallying effect among Canadians,” said Kurl.

The same good news can’t be given though for an Edmonton MP.

“At the bottom end of that performance scale is Natural Resources Minister Amarjeet Sohi.”

Sohi’s rating dropped 34 per cent from last year when he headed the infrastructure ministry.

Kurl said that the low ranking is mainly due to Sohi being an Albertan MP and heading a ministry that hasn’t been able to build pipelines to transport oil.
