Freezing rain leads to multi-vehicle crash in central Alberta

RCMP suspect freezing rain and road conditions may have played a factor in a multi-vehicle crash Tuesday evening.

Police were called to the scene on Highway 40, roughly 42 kilometres north of Highway 16 near Hinton, around 8:19 p.m.

Investigators say the road is currently impassable due to the number of vehicles involved and the weather.

A collision analyst is expected to be on scene for most of the overnight hours.

They’re being asked to avoid the area due to freezing rain.

No word yet on injuries.

Mounties are on scene managing traffic.
